Good food. We stopped here when we were traveling and wanted something better than fast food and lighter than home cooking. I really enjoyed my beef tacos and enchilada. They have several vegetarian options. My wife got the veggie quesadilla and really liked it.

There are no other Mexican restaurants around the area. Food is mediocre and kind of pricey compared to what I'm used to.

Decor isn't anything special, but what do you expect from a place in the middle of nowhere? Staff was friendly, tea was good, salsa was chunky and very fresh. Taco, tostada, and quesadilla were all very good. Would come back if I am ever here in the middle of nowhere again.

Very nice place. Ambiance is cafeteria like, but the food is incredible. Service was outstanding. I will return...

Had to send back the queso three times. First time it was stone cold with lumps, they took it back and brought out the same serving. The second time it was the same. I told the manager it was full of old chunky lumps and I didn't want that serving. Then they send out a very small bowl that WAS LUKEWARM and very runny. So frustrating. The staff, with the exception of one waitress are curt and very uninviting. I think El Amigo is going to fall off our list of good places to eat. Very disappointed as we have enjoyed El Amigo in the past.

The food is good, its american mexican but I would come again and definetly recommend it. I got the enchiladas and they were exactly how i like them. Also the staff is friendly.

Very delicious. Don't let the hole in the wall location mislead you. These folks were nice to talk too, heaped on the to-go food and new how to cook. I thoroughly enjoyed this place.

The restaurant is right off of interstate 65 and very convenient. They have great food and wonderful service! It's a hidden gem that needs more advertising. I definitely recommend it!

El Amigo is authentic Mexican food~ Food ideas: Flautas; shredded beef burrito; El Amigo Pico Avocado (guacamole mix); white cheese nacho sauce; all fresh no cans!), except for salsa.

Hmm I tried the tilapia fish taco and I wasn't impressed. It was the first time that I've had tilapia shredded to make a taco. Staff was nice and the price was great.

My husband and I just returned from a cruise where our last stop was in Mexico, and we still wanted Mexican food! This little joint wasn't that busy for 1:00 on a Sunday afternoon, and I thought that was a bad sign, but it was fine. We ordered water (which came in glasses! I hate drinking water out of plastic cups, and they always kept our glasses full. I drink water like a camel.) cheese dip and guacamole dip ($3.50 each, about 6 oz. each). The guacamole wasn't superb; it didn't have any pico de gallo, and I think the avocado must have been a little too ripe, but it was fine when mixed with the salsa. My husband ordered from the 3-choice combo and got a tostada, soft taco, and a tamale. The tamale was amazing! They serve it on top of a corn husk with lettuce, tomato, and pico de gallo on top. I ordered a chicken enchilada and a shredded beef flauta for the 2-choice combo. I had asked for no cheese on the enchilada since I am lactose intolerant, but it came out with cheese on top. I simply pointed it out to the runner when he delivered our food, and he was quick to get it back to the kitchen and return with a correct order. Overall, it's a good stop for a quick lunch and decent service.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
